Gasworks Park
Free at Gas Works Park

In conjunction with the Henry’s presentation of Summer Field Studies, artist Allyce Wood invites you to join her for a one-night meditation and star gazing session at Seattle’s Gasworks Park. Joined by members of the Seattle Astronomical Society Wood will lead participants in a reading and thought experiment that will explore our scale against the twinkling lights of the city and stars beyond. Meet us at the top of Kite Hill and bring a sweater!

Telescopes will be generously provided courtesy of the Seattle Astronomical Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting all aspects of amateur astronomy for the benefit of its members and the general public. For more information visit seattleastro.org

Allyce Wood is based in Seattle. Her work focuses on ecological consequences of industry and human interaction. In creating aesthetically complex cut-paper installations, drawings, and prints, her work mindfully illustrates humanity’s negative influence on the natural world and the long-term consequences thereby produced.

Wood received her BFA in printmaking and sculpture from Cornish College of the Arts(2010) during which time she also studied environmental sculpture at Glasgow School of Art (2009). Wood has been a member of SOIL Artist Run Gallery since 2012. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally in cities such as Glasgow, Oslo, Oakland, New York, and Seattle.
